Former Michigan State guard Chris Allen has been the subject of wide-spread rumors since March.
Some of the rumors have been true, some have yet to be confirmed. He was dismissed from Michigan State on Monday, Aug. 3.
For some, that was good enough. For others, Allen's next destination is still a topic of interest.
Rumors have circulated that Allen has been contacted by the University of Connecticut. That is not true, according to courant.com's Mike Anthony.
A source who is familiar with the situation said, "Nobody from the UConn staff called Chris Allen about transferring."
However, Allen's mother, Janice, reportedly said Big East schools, like the University of South Florida and Notre Dame, have contacted her son since his departure from East Lansing.
In The Detroit News post, she mentioned UConn as a potential suitor for her son.
"The phones have been blowin' up," Janice Allen told The Detroit News on Thursday. "He's definitely going to start soon at another school. There definitely won't be any relax time."
Allen's mother went on to say that her son would not transfer to a school in Michigan, and that she, or her son, holds no ill-will toward Tom Izzo or Michigan State.
"The (MSU) program is nice; I have nothing bad to say," said Janice Allen. "Everything is going great (academically). The decision was really sad but it was an enjoyable experience. You just live and you learn."
Allen would bolster any team's defense, as he gained the reputation of being a lock-down defender while at Michigan State.
He averaged just over eight points per game as a junior.
